With just one week to go, race day is almost here and we are looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday 12th May in Southgate Park, Crawley.
To help you get the most out of your day at British Airways Run Gatwick, here are a few tips and reminders.

Race packs have been sent out so you should have received your all important race number unless you opted to collect them from County Mall Shopping Centre, Crawley.
Our Run Gatwick store, located on the 1st level of County Mall opposite Toy Barnhaus, will be open for race pack collection on the following days:
Thursday 9th May: 3pm – 8pm
Friday 10th May: 1pm – 6pm
Saturday 11th May: 10am – 4pm
Registration will close on 8th May, however, there will be a small number of Half Marathon only places available on the day.
You race pack will have included your race number with an embedded timing chip along with safety pins. Before leaving home, please complete the emergency contact information on the back of your race number before securing it firmly to the front of your running top using the safety pins.
Your race number will need to be visible throughout the race. You’ll notice your race number is coloured, you must enter the start pen that corresponds to the colour of your race bib.
At the bottom of your race number is your baggage tag, if you are planning on using the Spire Baggage Marquee, why not attach this to your bag in advance to speed up your drop.
If you are running as part of the Sussex Athletics Championships, please visit the Sussex Athletics tent in the Event Village on race day to collect your back number.
Xempo are providing pacers for the half marathon. The pacers will be covering the following target times: Sub 1:30, Sub 1:40, Sub 1:50, Sub 2:00, Sub 2:10 and Sub 2:30 and will be positioned in the relevant start pens and easily identified by their target time flags.
Please note there is a three hour cut off time for the half marathon although roads will begin to open from midday, so please be aware you may need to move onto the pavements from this time. There will also be a sweeper vehicle for any runners who wish to retire from the course.
Your official race time will be sent via SMS after the race and you will also be able to visit the Results Base marquee within the Event Village to get a print out of your time. Your detailed results will be available within 48 hours at www.rungatwick.com.
7:30am – The Event Village opens, this is where you will find the Run Gatwick Information Tent, British Airways Base Camp, Spire Baggage, Massage Tent and our fantastic stage hosted by Heart Sussex Radio. Our various partners and charities will also be present, along with a delicious selection of food and drink to choose from.
The Spire Baggage Marquee will be open from 7:30am until 2pm. Please note we won’t be providing changing facilities or showers so please come ready to run.
There will be plenty of toilets available in the park situated close to the stage and the start pens and also at all water stations along the route.
8:45 – Warm up with BA Ambassadors, Dina Asher-Smith, Colin Jackson and Helen Skelton-Myler.
9:00 – Dina Asher-Smith will start the Half Marathon.
9:25 – 5k start with Colin Jackson & Dina Asher-Smith
10:15 – 5k Prize giving
11:00 – Half Marathon and Sussex Athletics Championship Prize giving
12:30 – Family Run Warm Up with Helen Skelton-Myler
12:45 – Family Run started by Helen Skelton-Myler. This will be pulsed out in smaller groups to prevent overcrowding.
2:00 – Spire Baggage and Event Village Closes
Sportcam will be taking the official photographs of all the runners on the day. You will be emailed a link to photos of yourself within 48 hours of race day, the link will also be featured on our website after race day.
Water & First Aid
Bottled water provided by our partner Harrogate Spring Water will be provided at regular three mile intervals along the course for the half marathon and at the finish for all races. Water is supplied in 330ml sports cap bottles. Harrogate Spring Water bottles are 100% recyclable so look out for our recycle bins in the event village and help towards making British Airways Run Gatwick a sustainable event.
First Aid medical teams will be on hand along the route, at the Start/Finish areas and in the park. If at any time during the race you feel unwell or unable to continue, please stop, rest and locate the nearest marshal.
We love spectators and know you do too so look out for them along the route, particularly on the High Street in Crawley and the village of Charlwood where there will be fun for all the family and music to entertain and motivate you. Click here for more information.

Please note there are planned rail engineering works next weekend and trains will not be stopping at Crawley train station. We recommend you travel to Three Bridges station which is approximately a 10 minute walk to the start line.

Our exciting event village will provide a place for runners to relax, enjoy a massage and meet event sponsors, partners and charities. Whether you need refuelling after your race or are simply coming to soak up the exciting festival atmosphere, you can indulge in our delicious food and drink options from gourmet burgers to vegan specialities, washed down with a beer or cold gin and tonic in RGW Square in the centre of the event village.
Gatwick Airport RaceCrew
It’s not too late to volunteer to be part of our fantastic RaceCrew team on the day. We need hundreds of people to look after our runners and spectators, both out on the route and in the park. It’s a great experience and to say thank you, we will provide you with a free breakfast, quality RaceCrew t shirt, your very own medal, a £5 refreshment voucher for the event village and a free race place for 2020!
