British Airways Run Gatwick’s base camp is located at:
Crawley, West Sussex,
Runners should aim to arrive on site at least 1 hour before the race begins; this will allow time to park, make your way over to the village, warm-up and get to the start line.
Please note that with event road closures in place we recommend departing earlier than usual, as this may impact your journey in some way. It is therefore vitally important that you allow enough time and plan your journey accordingly.
Crawley is just South of Gatwick Airport and can be accessed easily from the M23 London to Brighton motorway. It is also served from the A23 running North to South and the A264 East to West.
There will be NO parking available within Southgate Park on race day. We have agreed the use of several car parks around Crawley which are all located within a 5-15 minute walk of Southgate Park. Please note these car parks will be on a first come first serve basis and charges may apply, so please plan your journey in advance. You can find a more detailed map of the available car parks here.
Crawley is served by Crawley Station, with direct trains to London Victoria and London Bridge at peak times, and to Gatwick Airport, Horsham and Brighton (for Brighton change at Gatwick Airport). Up-to-date timetables can be found on the National Rail website. Please be aware travel can be disrupted subject to engineering works on the weekends, so please check train times to ensure you can get to the start line with plenty of time to spare.
See National Rails information on planned improvement works.
Note: Crawley mainline station is adjacent to the Arora hotel Gatwick. Our runners have been given shortcut access from platform 2 into the hotel grounds through to Southgate park. Follow the signs to the end of the platform.
Alternatively the next nearest train station is Three Bridges. This is approximately a 10 minute drive from Southgate Park with local taxi services in operation.
FROM GATWICK AIRPORT
Please note the journey from the Airport will take approximately 15 minutes which can be reached via local taxis and buses. Please allow sufficient time for your journey in case of any delays.
There are frequent bus services to Crawley with Metrobus from surrounding towns including Horley, Leatherhead, Worthing and Horsham. Please check the MetroBus Website for timetables.
If you are planning on cycling to the event there will be free bike storage available at the event. Please remember to bring your own lock to the event as these will be public bike parking facilities.
Whilst the public car park at Southgate Park will be closed to the general public, there will be limited parking available for Blue Badge holders as this is located very close to the start and finish area, availability will be on a first-come first-served basis. There will be no charge for parking for Blue Badge holders and you do not need to book in advance – just show the car park marshals your Blue Badge when you arrive. There are various other car parks located around Crawley with disabled bays.
Southgate Park will have adequate disabled toilet facilities.
